A 23-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday (March 31) for his alleged involvement in a case of loan shark harassment at Choa Chu Kang.

Police said on Wednesday that they were alerted to the case at a residential unit along Keat Hong Close on Tuesday.

Checks by AsiaOne show that two Build-to-Order projects line both sides of the 160m-long road.

A photo of the alleged crime scene provided by the police shows graffiti scribbled on a wall along the corridor that reads: "Owe $, Pay $. This time is warning. Next time I will paint your house (sic)."

The message also urged the victim to settle the loan quickly.

Officers from Jurong Police Division, Clementi Police Division, and the Police Operations Command Centre established the identity of the man through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras.

He was arrested within five hours of the report being lodged.

Preliminary investigations revealed that he is allegedly involved in similar cases.

He will be charged in court on Thursday for loanshark harassment.

If found guilty of the said offence, he may be jailed for up to five years, fined up to $50,000, and receive up to six strokes of the cane.
